Association of Racing Arabian Breeders of Michigan

The Association of Racing Arabian Breeders in Michigan (ARAB) was established in 1985, with the purpose to promote and further develop the Arabian horse though the medium of racing.  Voted "Race Meet of the Year in both 2001 and 2003", our racing continues to improve in all aspects.  2006 was no exception, as racing in Michigan can boast of an increase of owners, starters, races and purses over 2005. 

  ARAB's Board of Directors, work to encourage educational and social activities which will enhance the racing, training, breeding and sale of Arabian horses.  Each year a stakes program is organized to accompany the already lucrative Michigan Bred Program.  At our annual Awards Banquet, held in January we featured a Stallion Service Sale with great success, selling 100% of stallions offered.  You can find our more information on our web site www.michiganarabianbreeders.com.

  Arabian racing is offered at Mount Pleasant Meadows, the only track in the state of Michigan that holds a "mixed meet" license.  Here the Arabians are at home, running an average of two races a day, for a 34 race day meet, running from May though September.  You can also catch the excitement of Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Paints and Thoroughbreds.  

ARAB is a non profit organization consisting of a dues paying membership which elects a seven member Board of Directors.  There are two membership categories:  Full membership, which includes full voting privileges, participation in the stakes program as well as the year ending Awards program.  An Associate membership, is also available to allow involvement in the stakes program as well as the awards program, but as a non voting member.
