PRESS RELEASE:

PAYBACK PROGRAM  TO PROVIDE PRIZE MONEY

December, 2007

http://www.shnpayback.com

A new program has been launched to provide prize money for exhibitors at the Arabian Sport Horse National Championships beginning in 2008. Founded by a group of SHN exhibitors and supporters, the program features half-price stallion services as the main source of funding.

By donating a breeding, all existing offspring of that stallion become eligible for the prize money in all Payback classes. The stallion services are sold on a first-come-first-served basis to any mare owner.

Boasting over 60 of the highest quality stallions of all breeds, the SHN PAYBACK PROGRAM promises to be quite popular among both breeders and exhibitors. “It’s a win/win situation for stallion and mare owners alike,” says program director Laura Wood. “Mare owners have access to the best stallions at a discount and stallion owners can win recognition as well as prize money for themselves.”

Exhibitors are the real beneficiaries, as they can earn cash for their accomplishments at the show. As the program grows, more Payback classes will be added, both at entry and upper levels of the competition in each of the show’s divisions of dressage, over fences, carriage driving and Sport Horse Under Saddle and In-Hand.

“The Sport Horse Nationals Payback program is really exciting! So many top quality stallions to choose from, something for everybody from Purebred Multi -National Champions to world class Warmbloods. The money that will benefit the National classes will bring the status of Arabian Sport Horses to new levels.” says Payback participant and co-director Patience Prine-Carr.

The Arabian stallions donated thus far include 6 time US National Champion Allience+//, 5 time National Champion OKW Entrigue+++//, and 2 time National Champion Khahpur Khopi+ just to name a few. Warmbloods donated include Rosenthal, Frohwind, DeLaurentis, Wonderful, Redwine, Sinatra Song and Ironman.

More information on this exciting program can be obtained by visiting the website at www.shnpayback.com or calling Laura Wood at (337) 370-7671 or Peggy Ingles at (410) 823-5579.

The 2006 Dave Rinehart Youth Memorial Trophy recipient is Bret VanKlompenberg!

David Rinehart Memorial Trophy

The first David Rinehart memorial trophy was presented this year at the Region 13 show. It was a very moving moment.

We have a heart-felt presentation tonight in memory of our special friend, Dave Rinehart.
Although Dave's involvement in our Arabian youth began with his daughter, it soon stretched to include just about anyone who rode a horse. He was always there with encouragement, a pat on the back and a hearty laugh.

At shows he was invaluable as a gopher, always asking "What can I do to help?"

He will be missed, but not forgotten through the yearly presentation of this award. The Dave Rinehart memorial trophy is presented to the Region 13 youth who best exhibits true sportsmanship and camaraderie which so aptly described Dave.

This year's recipient was selected by a panel of three Regional officials; our regional director, regional vice director and regional show manager.

THIS YEARS RECIPIENT IS BRET VANKLOMPENBERG
